NetBeans 6.5 beta is now available. The download page is a good place to get a first glimpse at the new features: JavaScript, Groovy, PHP, and more Java. The New and noteworthy document is another detailed resource (note that Milestone 2 = Beta).

GlassFish v3 "Prelude" (what is "v3 Prelude"?) is included in the "Java Build" (124 MB) but also in the "Ruby" build (38 MB). In addition, these two quite self-explanatory features have been added: "Deploy-on-Change", "Compile-on-Save".

Both NetBeans and GlassFish are moving into being much larger than Java, the language.
Full roadmap for this NetBeans 6.5 release is here.

Comments:

How can I use Servlet 3.0 feature? I saw new servlet 3.0 api is added to http engine in Grizzly page but I never able to see suspend(), resume(),complete(), isSuspended(). Is it not part of Glassfish prelude bundled with Netbeans 6.5? I hope Servlet is base for all JSP and JSF related work, so why it is missing? Or do I need to do any other configuration change?

GlassFish v3 Prelude includes the modularity features in GFv3 but it is based on the JavaEE 5 APIs. Servlet 3.0 will be available later as a module. - eduard/o

I got to know modules for ejb 3.1 and JSF (mojarra) available for V3. For Servlet 3.0, does it have any similar EDR modules available?

Bye the way, NB 6.5 is really looks nice and slick. Deploy on Save and Compile on save is really add value for development environment, this feature I was expecting long back from NB. Since annotation going to be one of the feature which helps in EoD (ease of dev) does NB6.5 has any new view which shows available annotation just like "Navigation" view? Eclipse has this feature and it is really handy. Thanks

Senthilkumar Peelikkampatti: The servlet 3.0 implementation isn't available today. We are going to be working on that after the Prelude release and should have something towards the latter part of the year.

Is it possible to develop EJB3 on gfv3?

I tried to install glassfishv3-ejb from the update center but it seems to break the installation. should it work?

Hi Piero, can you detail the issue you face in an email to the users alias of glassfish (or on the developer forum: http://forums.java.net/jive/forum.jspa?forumID=56&start=0)
Note that GFv3 "prelude" will be web-tier only. The full Java EE 6 (EJB 3.1) version wil come later.
Thanks!
