In my opinion, John's blogging hiatus can be forgiven as he's clearly been too busy having lot's of fun with Service Provisioning, some of the cool new features of Solaris 10 and GlassFish. In his latest post he covers the use of Solaris SMF (Service Management Facility) [think init.d and inetd on steroids] with Sun Java System App Server.
As he points out - he actually used GlassFish (which already has native support for SMF) to create the scripts - see previous entry on GlassFish and SMF. The technique makes extensive use of the GlassFish Admin CLI.
Rich, trust me, I have been going through some serious blogging withdrawal symptoms!
Kudos to the Glassfish team for the create-service command. Makes life easy.
