ServiceMix on GlassFish
  Posted by pelegri in GlassFish

ServiceMix Architecture

ServiceMix is an Open Source ESB (under ASL license) that is based on JBI. Bhavani reports that ServiceMix now works in GlassFish v2. The default JBI runtime in GlasssFish v2 is Open-ESB but options are good for customers, and thanks to the Java EE Service Engine, ServiceMix can be used.

Check Bhavani's blog for detailed instructions.

Comments:

What is wrong with Open-ESB ? Do the ServiceMix have more binding components. For example, where is the FTP BC download page for the Open-ESB.BI component ? It seems like SericeMix is a more mature product (?)

Open ESB is fully featured - for some of the available components for it have a look at
https://open-jbi-components.dev.java.net/
As you're specifically asking about FTP this is a direct link
http://www.glassfishwiki.org/jbiwiki/Wiki.jsp?page=FTPBC

It's just that options are good, right?

One item to take into account is that Open ESB places heavy emphasis on being spec compliant; beware that a work-around seems necessary for servicemix with wsdl 1.1 defined messages as it does not follow the spec (yet?) for such normalized messages.

Andi is right: "Options Are Good". At many levels. From competition for the customers, to synergy of ideas, to ensuring the spec supports multiple implementations, to showing the customers there are multiple suppliers. - eduard/o
