Using GlassFish with Eclipse Ganymede
  Posted by pelegri in GlassFish

ALT DESCR

Eclipse Ganymede (Eclipse 3.4, see News and Noteworthy) is out in the annual late-June Eclipse synchronous release. Ganymede works with GlassFish v2 and v3 and Arun's latest note provides Detailed Steps for GFv3.

Based on previous experience, the June Eclipse releases tend to be a bit rough, but they should get much better later in the year. As, always, we are interested in your feedback and direct experience.

Comments:

When I try to add GlassFish as a server type in the servers view of Eclipse 3.4 in the JEE perspective, no GlassFish adapter is found in the remote update sites. Has anyone had any success with this?

Make sure you have your HTTPS proxy set. Then click on "Download additional server adapters" link in the "New Server" window. GlassFish is there.

Oh, and you may need to restart Eclipse....

Thanks, Alexis.
Setting the proxy in Windows > Preferences > Network Connections did the trick. Also, Eclipse automatically restarted itself.

Hello Folks,

On Ganymede -

In my Windows->Preferences->Network connections, I have set up "Direct connection to the internet", because I'm not going through any proxies to get to the outside world.

Even after I "download additional adapters", I don't see the Glassfish adapters. I can see others - Pramati, Geronimo, Websphere, etc. but no Glassfish.

Do I need to set up any special HTTPS proxy for Glassfish in particular ?

TIA.
Viv

No, you shouldn't need any proxy if you're really directly on the internet. Do you see BEA plugin? It's also available from an https:// address...

Hi all!
I cannot to install adapter for GlassFish in Eclipse.
I do in Eclipse adding new Server "Downloading additional server adapters".
And I receive an error:
An internal error occurred during: "Installing GlassFish Java EE 5 Server".
WinXP, Eclipse 3.4 Ganymede
In my Windows->Preferences->Network connections, I have set up "Direct connection to the internet".

I had similar problems:
With download additional server adapters, i was able to select glassfish, but after restart glassfish was not in the selectable server list...and it was not anymore downloadable.

My workaround: I dowloaded the latest plugin build form https://glassfishplugins.dev.java.net/download/
and dropped the hole zip file in my eclipse dropins folder. After eclipse restart all works fine.
