Here is a very brief sketch of GlassFish-related activities at CommunityOne; I'll flesh it out over the weekend - we are in the last stretch before JavaOne and "free" blogging time is limited - just as news peak up.
Sunday before JavaOne - unconference in the afternoon at the Moscone. Alexis will organize this, with discussion at the advocacy at glassfish.dev.java.net mailing list.
Sunday before JavaOne - party in the evening in the Moscone area. PaulH and JohnC will organize this, details still TBD.
Monday is CommunityOne. There are demos, a track and many sessions.
• General Session - with Keynote speakers
• Demos - ESB, Portal, SocialNetworks, GFv2 and v3, UC and more, with sneak previews.
• Track - Overview of v2 and v3, scripting, tools, and more, also sneak previews.
• Lighting Talks - Part of GF track, several mini-presentations.
• Other GF-realted Talks - Last count there were around 15 GF-related sessions
• Party - There is a nice party at the end of the day.

The room allocation for a track is based on the number of people registered in that track; please register for the GF if you are interested. |

One final call for submissions to CommunityOne 2008. As I Indicated Previously, the event will be in the Moscone Center, the Monday just before JavaOne - that is May 5th, 2008. The call for papers is very flexible but I would like to specially encourage your submissions on topics related to projects in the GlassFish Community. CommunityOne is back. This year GlassFish, friends and relatives put together our first GlassFish Day. The model for 2008 has not yet been finalized but the organizing committee is asking for submissions now to sketch content. |
Like last year, attendees to C1 will get a free pass to the first day of JavaOne; registration for C1 starts in January and attendance is capped at 2500. The deadline for submission of abstracts is Jan 31st, check the process at the C1 Website.
We will discuss topics and approaches related to GlassFish submissions at the Advocacy@GF mailing list; there should be plenty of material for interesting submissions.

We're continuing with the theme of providing online materials for those who could not make it to our GlassFish Day event in San Francisco last week. This time it's Nazrul pitching in, providing a "virtual copy" of the memory sticks we were giving away. |
That means you can get all of the binaries, documentation, and screencasts that were on the memory sticks. Unfortunately, we haven't figured out how to squeeze the sticks themselves through the network. ;)

For the people that were not able to make it to GlassFish Day, we've set up a page on the wiki to be as close in content as possible to what was show during the event in San Francisco. At this point it already has links to half the presentations and to most of the screencasts (including one from Genuitec on MyEclipse and GlassFish v2). |

GlassFish Day is Monday at the Moscone (registration page). If you are in the Bay Area and are interested in server-side Java you should come by to learn about GlassFish. Besides, it is FREE and it has good freebies! The event should be of interest to newbies and experts alike. We will provide an introduction to GlassFish v2, showcase real-life deployments, talk about some of the GlasFish partners, and show the future, with GFv3 and more. There are many demos and keynotes with Karen, Rich and Jonathan. |

Logistics
GlassFish Day is Monday, May 7 (right before
JavaOne)
at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and it is part of
CommunityOne.
Lead contributors to the GlassFish community will present about most of the areas
in GlassFish.
CommunityOne has multiple tracks;
the bulk of the GlassFish content is in GlassFish Day but there are important sessions in the
Web 2.0, Linux vs Solaris, and, of course in the NetBeans Day track.
The bulk of the content is arranged as Sessions, Partners, and Demo stations but we also have three special guests: Karen Tegan Padir will kick off GlassFish Day, and we will have a special lunch session with Jonathan Schwartz and Rich Green. Lunch will be served and there is a reception at the end of the day.
The latest schedule should be at the Official CommunityOne Site and full details of GlassFish Day are at the GlassFish Wiki. We will post any changes and updates in real-time to TheAquarium. The current status is as follows:

CommunityOne is taking its final form. The day (Monday, May 7th, 2007) starts with a general session and then we will break into multiple tracks, with a couple of breaks, including lunch. There will be multiple demos and technical stations during the day, and the day ends with a reception.

The GlassFish community has 4 formal sessions in GlassFish Day where we will cover: GlassFish v2, Real Adoption Stories, Wider GlassFish Ecosystem and GlassFish Future. GlassFish content is also a big part of NetBeans Day and Web 2.0.
The content will continue to adjust in the next couple of weeks, up to the usual last minute announcements, and I'll be posting highlights as we settle them. We welcome your feedback to make this experience as informative, interesting and fun as possible; in the meantime, come and Register before it fills up.
