GlassFish Day @ Jazoon: D-27
  Posted by alexismp in GlassFish

GlassFish at Jazoon

The Jazoon conference is less than a month away and it kicks off with a GlassFish Day on Monday June 23rd 2008. Clearly the agenda is still pretty much a place-holder at this point but given the number and the quality of the speakers (Jérôme, Paul, Andi, Pat, Ludo, ...) I'm expecting a high-quality event.

I'll be working on the detailed agenda (which may include some open space/unconference format) in the next few days. In the mean time Felipe has an overview of GlassFish talks at Jazoon.

Make sure you register for the GlassFish Day (marked as "Tutorial") so we have an idea at how many people we can expect. Again, this part of the conference is free.

JavaZone - Day-1 & HK2
  Posted by alexismp in GlassFish

IBS Logo

The JavaZone conference is starting tomorrow in Oslo, Norway. Sweden-based IBS JavaSolutions consultants Rikard and Ferid will be presenting tomorrow on HK2, the Module System for GlassFish v3. They promise to make slides and demo code (module creation, repository, scoping) available from http://jsolutions.se. This should be real soon now given the JavaZone organizers intend to make slides available to participants during the conference.

GlassFish and a lot more in Belgium and Luxembourg later this month
  Posted by alexismp in GlassFish

Sun Microsystems is sponsoring two post-JavaOne events later this month in Europe covering GlassFish v2 and v3 but also Desktop Java, SOA, scripting languages, and more:

•  JavaOne Afterglow Belgium. June 26th, 2007. De Montil Affligem (Bruxelles, Belgium)
•  JavaOne Afterglow Luxembourg. June 28th 2007. Hilton Luxembourg Hotel

Note that JavaOne Technical Session PDFs are available for free from SDN. A good chunk (half?) of the presentations are also now available in a multimedia version (slides + audio + transcript) such as , "JAX-RS RESTful Web Services", or "Packaging Java Application for Ubuntu".

GlassFish content at Sun Tech Days
  Posted by alexismp in GlassFish

The Sun Tech Days world tour continues on. The next stops include Paris (this week), St-Petersburg (Russia) and São Paulo (Brazil) in April (full list).

Most (all?) of these events are free. The events do not (yet) have a formal GlassFish track but a great deal of the content is already GlassFish-related.

As an example, the recent Sun Tech Day in London had 10 GlassFish-related sessions:

•  "Java EE - Did You Get Your Tools With That?" (as part of the NetBeans day)
•  "Java EE 5 and Glassfish: A Plunge into the Aquarium"
•  "JAX-WS and WSIT: Tangoing with .NET"
•  "Visualizing and Developing BPEL and SOA Applications using Java EE"
•  "JavaServer Faces, Visual Web Pack and NetBeans"
•  "In-depth Session: Developing Web 2.0 Application Using AJAX and Related Frameworks"
•  "Using jMaki Technology for Building Web 2.0/Ajax Applications"
•  "Future of Java: Open Source Projects and Communities"
•  "Securing Web Services"
•  "In-depth Session: EJB 3.0 and Java Persistence APIs: Simplifying Persistence"

The same event also had three GF-related hands-on Labs :

•  "Java EE 5 Basics: Web Services, EJB 3.0, Java Persistence, JSF"
•  "NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5 (formerly Java Studio Enterprise): BPEL and SOA"
•  "Using jMaki Technology for Building Web 2.0/Ajax Applications"

Click interactive map - Road to GlassFish Day

As it was said before, there will be a GlassFish Day this year right before JavaOne on Monday, May 7th, 2007. We're still working on the agenda to have this really be a community event with updates on GlassFish v2 and related projects, partners involvment, deployment stories and a look forward. In the mean time, there will be a lot of content around the world.

The following Sun Tech Days will feature the following presentations : "Java EE 5 and GlassFish: A Plunge into the Aquarium", "JAX-WS and WSIT: Tangoing with .NET", "EJB 3.0 and Java Persistence APIs: Simplifying Persistence", hands-on labs and more :

•  Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - March 6-8, 2007
•  London, United Kingdom - March 13-15, 2007
•  Paris, France - March 19-21, 2007
•  St. Petersburg, Russia - April 11-13, 2007

There are also another set of events around the world :
•  Sun Developer Days in Australia and New Zealand, March 20-23, 2007 with a broad range of GlassFish-related topics.
•  AjaxWorld in New-York City, March 19-21, 2007 featuring talks on Comet by Jeanfrancois "Grizzly" Arcand, JSF and AJAX talk by Craig "MVC" McClanahan, and Enterprise AJAX by Greg "jMaki" Murray.
•  Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, April 15-18 2007.
•  JAX 2007 in Wiesbaden April 23-27, 2007 featuring a GlassFish v2 session.

Any other I'm missing?

GlassFish Day agenda and registration should be available real soon now. Stay tuned.
