The 10th FISL starts this week. Like previous years, it looks like a lot of fun: the Program is full of good content, and there is also Porto Alegre... FISL starts on the 24th and it is preceded by Javali, an event focused on Java, on the 23rd (Agenda).
I did a quick pass through the FISL program to highlight some sessions, including those related to GlassFish Projects and friends:
• Arun on
GF, MySQL and NetBeans (S205)
(Arun's note)
• Mauricio on
OSGi in GFv3 (S736)
• Ludo will talk about
OpenDS (S473)
(Ludo's note)
• Fabiane on
Hudson (S733)
• Pat on
OpenSSO (S360)
(Pat's note)
• Fabio Veloso on
Jersey (S282)
Other talks related to GlassFish include
• On OpenJDK,
Bruno (S734)
and
Charlie (S226)
• On OpenSolaris
Rafael (S600)
and
Brian (S749)
• On NetBeans et al,
Geertjan (S735), and
• On OSS,
Simon (S757),
I wish I was there! If you attend FISL or Javali, please report back.
The call for papers for the JavaOne 2009 (@ San Francisco) is out. And so is that for ComunityOne 2009, except that this year there are two events, East and West. Note that both CFPs close later this month.

• JavaOne - In San Francisco, June 2-5th, 2009. CFP closes on Dec 18th.

We will start a coordination page for the GlassFish Community around these events early next week. I think we will need to ask help from Paul, Arun and Alexis :-)

Several people from the GlassFish community are going to be attending conferences in Europe next week. First is Jazoon, in Zurich (Wikipedia, GF Geo Map) - Ludo, Harold and Jerome will be there (anybody else?). Then it's TheServerSide Conference in Barcelona (Wikipedia, GF Geo Map) - just me, drop-by and say hi if you are there! Since I'm from Barna and in the spirit of giving you a less typical picture (even though I really like Gaudi), here is a Video of l'ou com balla :-) I might not be able to post many entries while travelling; I'm leaving you in the hands of Alexis, Arun and Jamey... |

We have started giving GlassFish presentations in Many Places Around the World and in April Jean Francois will visit Brazil. Jean Francois first travels to the south-most tip of Brazil, to Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul) for FISL 8.0 (April 12 to April 15). Then he goes to Sao Paulo (SoutEast Region) for Sun TechDay Sao Paulo (April 18 to April 20) |
Jean Francois will be talking about Grizzly and the rest of GlassFish v2. I believe he is already receiving requests to visit local JUGs but he may have some extra time; contact him directly if you are interested in taking advantage of his travel plans.
The picture is of Elis Regina, born in Porto Alegro. Years ago a friend of mine gave me a copy of Elis and Tom, her Album with Antonio Carlos Jobim, and it was one my favorite bossa nova recordings for many years.
