This week's webinar is on Nuxeo ECM, the Open Source ECM. Stefane will provide details on Nuxeo 5.2 (release/en, release/fr) and will discuss how to build scalable content management applications using OSS JavaEE technologies and sample use cases. Stefane will also describe the plans for Nuxeo 6.0 Nuxeo 5.2 is available with GFv3 Embedded (in addition to Jetty and JBoss) and is a good example of how the architecture of GFv3 extends the applicability of GlassFish into new markets. The Nuxeo ECM (Enterprise Content Management) which was previously reported as moving from Python to Java has recently reached version 5.1 after several milestone releases. The News and Noteworthy document explains that the Nuxeo Core and Runtime now support GlassFish v2. There's still ways to go for the entire Nuxeo solution to be supported on GlassFish out of the box, but the trend is looking good! |

Nuxeo 5 is a customizable and extensible open source framework for ECM applications. We mentioned Nuxeo some months ago when they Switched to Java EE 5. At that point, Nuxeo was only using JBoss but this last week, during JavaOne, Nuxeo released Nuxeo 5.1 M2 which is the first release for GlassFish (announcement, blog) Nuxeo 5.1. M2 is only partially converted to GlassFish (v2), but we're looking forward for that "Partially" to become "Fully" and for Nuxeo to join the growing party... |

"Which is the better language?..." Wrong Question!. One cannot compare languages as diverse as AWK, APL, Snobol, Prolog, Fortran, Lisp, Python, Java, PHP, and Many Others. More appropriate questions are "Which language I like best?", or, even better, "Which is the best language for my team to accomplish this tast within these constraints?". And, with that introduction... Nuxeo is an Open Source company that has a popular Enterprise Content Management. This product was initially developed in Python but they just Annouced a Switch to Java EE. It is not that they do no longer like Python; just that Java EE made more sense for them in their context. |
