Do you want your favorite package to be one-click away from millions of desktops Around the World? If so, help us add these packages to the GlassFish community repositories. To help this Alexis has been writing a series of blog entries; the last entry explains Different Strategies for Different Types of Components, covering Frameworks and Libraries, Applications Running in GlassFish, Applications Independent of GlassFish and GlassFish Extensions (HK2/OSGi Components). |
Previous posts covered: Overview of Concepts and Hibernate as a Sample; more posts will follow soon.

Coopetition is alive and well in Open Source. Take for instance JBoss. JBoss is clearly Sun's competidor in the AppServer area but they use JAXB and JSF. Similar case with Portal: JBoss, Sun and Portlet Swap are working in the PRP Project to enlarge the market of portable portlets. See the PRP home page, the Invitation, and JBoss' blog |
|
The Portlet Repository Protocol (PRP) project seeks to define a common Web Service API used to communicate with portlet repositories. It will also establish the format and meta-data to be included when defining a specific portlet within a repository. |
This is a free and open standards project, that any portlet repository may implement, and any portal vendor may leverage, as well. Input from those respective parties is welcomed and encouraged.
