Chat, Anyone?

One of our readers posted a suggestion about including a chat applet (or something similar) into the pages of the tutorial. We are considering this possibility but would like to know what everyone else thinks. If we enable a live chat, would you use it?

Comments:

To chat live with some one at SUN about something in (or missing from) the tutorials? Hell yeah, but that sounds like it would an expensive feature to offer.

Hi Alan, I think readers would mostly use it to chat with each other, although its possible that some of our writers could be on it as well. We would probably be looking for some sort of freeware solution since this kind of application has surely been coded many times over by now...

Sounds like a good idea!

Perhaps some statistics that show how many people simultaneously access the same tutorial page might also help in determining if the chat applet will be useful to the readers.

I constantly reference the Java Tutorial as I learn the language. I would truly appreciate the opportunity to chat with someone live.

Sometimes the tutorial leaves me with more questions than answers and I think it would be awesome to have tha ability to ask a question and get a quick, expert response.

gd idea! but if no expert sit in, questions js like water flow away. as the content in live chat is unorganized. or a forumn is even better?
