The Java Tutorials' Weblog
Java SE Tutorials Update
Today we have pushed an updated version of the Java SE Tutorials to the web. This update primarily focuses on bringing the Swing portion of the tutorial to JDK 6. This is now 95% complete. There are too many pages to list each one, but the notable changes include:- Performing Custom Painting, a complete re-write
- How to Print Text, a new page
- Laying Out Components Within a Container, an updated lesson
- How to Use Icons, with an updated demo by reader Collin Fagan.
The last version of the tutorial (as well as earlier versions) is available from the download page.

Within
Custom Networking:Working with URLs: Reading from and Writing to a URL Connection, the ReverseServlet.java file cannot be compiled by jdk1.6.0_02. For example, it extends a class HttpServlet which doesn't exist. Correct?

Not correct. Necessary source files seem to be available for downloading.

I agree with the above poster, something appears to (again) be wrong with the source files. I know I've come in late, so things have probably moved on, but these links might need to still be fixed or the post updated saying something like “no longer available” or something in that vain. Otherwise, the explanations are really well written and I'm happy to see some technical writing of really good quality here.
