Preparing for Java Programming Language Certification
When we updated the core Java Tutorial to JDK 6, we included a page designed to help those who are studying for Java Programming Language Certification. This study guide calls out which portions of the tutorial are relevant to the testing objectives -- it is by no means comprehensive. Nor does it discuss the test and what to expect.We still sometimes receive questions on the tutorial feedback alias asking how to prepare for the Java Programmer Certification test. The book strongly recommended by our Java instructors and course developers is the Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide by Philip Heller.

I must say that I strongly disagree with the recommendation of that book. Having purchased and use it myself, it contains many errors/typos. Some sections do not even apply to the exam (such as the bit fiddling, that has been dropped since 1.4 exam).
This book is much better.

Wow, this is a strong opposing view. Generally the Java instructors and course developers offer pretty reliable input.
I've never seen either book. Does anyone else have opinions on this? I'd encourage you to post on the forum (link in the blog entry). :-)

Not related to the blog post, but I was searching on the net, and found a mirror of the Java Tutorial.
The FAQ told me to report any mirrors, but the "Feedback" link given in FAQ is not working - http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/information/FAQ.html

A great news for java programmers and I think java is best for every programmers and I think the certification of java is a great step in programmers life.
