On the morning session, Hiroki Ohyama-san did a quite interesting presentation with more than 150 pictures to explain the atmosphere of JavaOne. Most of the contents of JavaOne general sessions were already reported by many on-line press and magazines in Japan, but no such kind of reports like this. It's fascinating and unique. The report itself was basically the same as the one he did on July 15th. So the video of the Tokyo one will be available on the web of NSUG soon. But this webcast is a service for NSUG members only.The second speaker was Naoki Ishihara, Sun Microsystems. He also did a good summary of technical points covered in JavaOne 2004 with sufficient pictures and sounds. He also brought some JavaOne goodies for freebies(T-Shirts, JavaOne bag and so on).
The reports on these sessions will be published on IAJapan site in near future. I heard that Kenji Mizukoshi-san is in charge of it. But I also heard that he's still traveling in Hokkaido on his motorbike :-)

午前中のセッションでは、大山弘樹さん（有限会社構築屋）が、150枚以上の写真を使用して、JavaOneの雰囲気を伝えるおもしろいプレゼンテーションをしました。既に日本のマスコミでもJavaOneのキーノートの話などは報道されていますが、こういう報告は見たことがありません。とてもすばらしい、ユニークなものでした。この報告そのものは基本的には7月15日に大山さんが行ったものと同じなので、そちらの方はNSUGのweb siteでビデオを見ることができるようになります。もっとも、こちらはNSUG会員専用です。
次のスピーカーは、サンの石原直樹で、彼も写真やサウンドを織り交ぜてJava One 2004でカバーされた技術的なポイントを要領よくまとめていました。また、JavaOneグッズ(Tシャツやバッグなど)の参加者へのプレゼントもありました。
このセッションのレポートは、財団法人インターネット協会のweb siteで公開される予定です。水越賢治さんがレポート担当と聞いていますが、まだバイクに乗って北海道を旅行中と言う噂です。 :-)

2004年 7月 26日 月曜日 Japan: Sapporo Events on July 24th part I
It was so hot on July 24th in Sapporo. There were two events, one was the JavaOne follow-up seminar I wrote about it in my blog on July 12th, and the other one was GODo 2004, which was the largest open source event in Hokkaido in this year, I guess. And actually, it was really hot in Sapporo. I thought it was slightly cooler than Tokyo, but it's summer any way.Back to the events, I joined at the JavaOne follow-up seminar on the morning, and moved to the GODo 2004 on the afternoon. For more details on another articles, later.

7月24日札幌、暑い/熱い一日でした。7月12日のブログに書いたJavaOneフォローアップセミナーと、おそらく今年北海道における最大のオープンソースのイベントではないかと思われるGODo 2004と言う二つのイベントが開催されました。また、ほんとに、札幌は暑かったのです。東京よりも少しは涼しいかもしれませんが、夏に変わりはないと言う感じでした。
イベントの話に戻りますが、私は午前中はJavaOneのフォローアップセミナーに参加し、午後はGODo 2004の方に移動しました。それぞれの詳細に関しては別記事にします。

Japan: Internet Association of Japan seminar on July 22th
I attended the seminar held by Internet Association of Japan, which I wrote on July 13th. It was very interesting since the topics of the government plans and business activites are so diverse and all of them have interesting points of marketing the Internet. 2004年 7月 22日 木曜日 Japan: Names of Colors of StarSuite
We found a strange thing in translating English to Japanese. Some of the names of colors in StarSuite are different in the common sense of Japanese feeling. For example, the color called as "Light Red" is translated as "Akarui Aka" in Japanese. But the color itself should be just "Aka"(Red) in usual Japanese. And the color called as "Red" is rather "Cha-Iro"(Brown) in usual Japanese feeling. So we've discussed this internally, and decided to change them to Japanese ones.Here is the color naming change plan in StarSuite Calc format. Our target is StarSuite 8, so OpenOffice.org 2.0 will also be affected by this change. If you have any opinion about this change, please e-mail me.

英語から日本語への翻訳で、おかしなことを発見しました。StarSuiteで使われている色の名前の中で、日本人の感覚と異なるものがあります。例えば、"Light Red"は「明るい赤」と訳されていますが、実際には単なる「赤」が日本語としては普通です。同様に、"Red"はどちらかと言えば「茶色」に近いでしょう。それで、社内で話し合った結果、変更することになりました。
これがその色名変更案です(StarSuiteの表計算形式)。StarSuite 8での変更予定なので、OpenOffice.org 2.0に影響が出ます。何かご意見ありましたら、私宛にメールください。
