Get into Open Source Hokkaido 2004(GODo 2004), which I attended on the afternoon of July 24th, was successfully held. It is reportedly there were about 150 attendees.Takatsugu Nokubi-san spoke as the keynote on the morning, but I was not there. He also did a talk about log analisys on the afternoon session. He is one of active members of Debian, Japan Linux Association, Free Software Initiative Japan, and of course he works hard at Toppan Printing.I heard that his sessions will be reported on the company's internal magazine, too.
Nobuyuki Sasaki-san of Sunbit System talked about the Internet security with analyzing a sample of cracked servers he encountered in his server supporting business. So many attendees were very interested in the actual results of the cracked server. Sasaki-san is also a member of Opendt.org, which we worked on enhancing OpenOffice.org by Japanese government funding(IPA, Information-technology Promotion Agency) in last fiscal year.
Yutaka Kachi-san of ja.OOo talked about OpenOffice.org. He explained the fun of open source activities as the same as the fun of network-based computer roll playing game, and this analogy is really one of interesting things in open source activities, I think :-) There was also OpenOffice.org booth in exhibition area of the event, and they gave away OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 CDs.
I also joined the lightning talk session with the subject regarding open source and government support in Japan. But the detail was highly confidential entertainment :-)
It is also reportedly that IPA, the gorvernment agency of METI(Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), held another open source conference starting on July 28th. It's called "The 3rd North-Eastern Asia Open Source Conference", focusing on the open source deployments in the governments of CJK(China, Japan and Korea).

7月24日の午後に参加した Get into Open Source Hokkaido 2004(GODo 2004)はなかなかうまくいったようで、150人くらい集まったと聞いています。
野首貴嗣さんが午前中のキーノートだったのですが、私は参加できませんでした。彼は午後にはログ分析に関するセッションも行いました。野首さんは、Debianや日本Linux協会やFree Software Initiative Japanなどで活躍しており、もちろん、勤務先の凸版印刷株式会社でもまじめに働いています。彼のこの日の勇姿は社内報にも掲載されるそうです。
サンビットシステムの佐々木伸行さんは、サーバーのサポート・ビジネスの上で出会った、クラッキングされたサーバーから例を取り上げて、インターネット・セキュリティに関して分析しました。実例を元にした話なので、参加者の興味も高かったようです。佐々木さんの会社では、昨年度のIPAのオープンソース開発に関する公募において、Opendt.orgのメンバーとしてOpenOffice.orgの機能拡張を実装しました。
OpenOffice.orgユーザ会の可知豊さんは、OpenOffice.orgに関して話をしました。オープンソース活動のおもしろさに関して、ネットワーク・ベースのロール・プレイング・ゲームみたいだと言ってましたが、なかなか言い得て妙と言うところもあります。また、展示エリアにはOpenOffice.orgの展示ブースもあり、OpenOffice.org 1.1.2のCDを配布していました。
私もライトニング・トークのセッションには参加して、日本におけるオープンソースと政府の支援に関して話しましたが、その具体的な内容については、その場限りのジョークネタなので、ここではお話しできません。
別件ですが、IPA主催で、「第三回北東アジア・オープンソース・カンファレンス」と言うものが7月28日から札幌で開催されていたようです。これは、日中韓の政府関係のオープンソース採用に関する会議のようです。
