... well, now you can ! Congratulations to the OpenSolaris folks for getting the code out there. Now, if you're done using them, can I have some of your legal folks to finish getting our translation tools released as well ? :-)

aside #1 : actually, I'm kidding - the process for releasing our tools is well under way, suspect next week we'll have some news.

aside #2 : I was really hoping to beat OpenSolaris to a release date : chatting to some of the guys here yesterday, their response was "What, you think you'll have your stuff ready by 4pm tomorrow?" Aah well...

So, we'll have something exciting to look forward to for Monday morning, right? ;)

Whenever it comes, it'll be exciting... And most probably a lot more straightforward to install the OpenSolaris. Hopefully with a lot more straightforward license too. Checking up on OpenSolaris considerable muted my enthusiasm. Can't see what would have been wrong with e. g. LGPL...

Hey Gudmund, it's not going to be Monday :-( Those 4 libraries are still "Pending approval by director" - I've sent reminder mails, but I'll also try to call him on Monday. These delays are really bugging me as well!

Yep, our install is pretty simple ! (we're using IzPack, so should be just a case of point & click!)

Re. licensing stuff, actually, I think the CDDL is the right way to go : the license is about as straightforward as you can get -- it's pretty much the Mozilla MPL, with additions to acknowledge that if you put code into OpenSolaris, that you also grant IP rights to that code to the project as well. Without that clause, having someone put code into the project, and then proceed to sue the project because we infringed someone's patent would be a bad thing. Simon Phipps explains the issue much better than I could here.

There's also a CDDL FAQ that might be worth reading :-)
