Who Ya Gonna Call about Java? Sorry about the poor use of English, but I had to blog about a great service offering around Java I heard about today at our internal "all hands" meeting...

But first a slight digression. Every blog is better with pictures... I don't have a great picture representing services around Java, but I do have lots of great pix on Open Office (thanks to Sara Dornsife !).

[Pick a vendor. Any vendor.]

So the "how cool is that?" from the meeting today is a new developer support program... And it's free during the beta period! Check this out:
Expert Assistance for Developers - A Sun Developer Network Program (Beta)
Covers the following products:

  • Netbeans 5
  • Java Studio Creator 2
  • J2SE 1.4.2/5 (Core - No Desktop/GUI API support)
  • Sun Studio 10/11 for Solaris
  • Java Studio Enterprise 7/8

[Prehistoric reptilians welcome.]

For Desktop/GUI developers here's some links to get you thinking about what's possible.... [We do windows, too.]

Of course Sun offers many options for supporting Java
[Compatible with expensive, closed, memory-loving software]

And there are many other ways to get service...
[By the people. For the people.]

And so now, finally crossing the beams between OOo and Java we have the UNO API's, SDK and Examples (which I'm looking forward to evaluating).

Have I ever mentioned that open is better?
...and even IBM doesn't get it (merci Alexis !)

And my friends that use Mac's know I would never let them down nor forget about them: Posted by tmarble ( Feb 16 2006, 07:14:08 PM CST ) Permalink
