OpenPortal now contains buildable, installable Portal Server

It's been a busy month of May. After announcing at JavaOne that the Sun Java System Portal Server software was available then in read-only form, we followed that up with putting fully buildable and installable source code into the Subversion repository at portal.dev.java.net. That's over 800,000 lines of code in about 8200 files (see Ohloh report for the project.

This software will become the basis for a future Portal Server 7.2 release. The install is still manual, not all platforms are supported yet, and much feature work for that release remains to be done, but we've taken a significant step towards having the full Portal Server system available in the open source community.

We'd love to have participation from the wider community interested in this product as we develop this release. Feel free to sign up for the project mailing lists, what what is going on, and better yet, participate.
