Sun Rays
I've always been mystified why Sun Rays (Sun's thin clients) have not been more popular. They might not be a generic desktop replacement, but they are definitely the right solution in many situations, e.g., call centers. Nice to see that someone else thinks so too.

Let me give you guys a best Idea to promote Sunray . Do a per seat cost model and lease it to the customers as ready to use appliances . A Sunray + both VDI & S10 Desktop + Basic Desktop Applications .
Talk to microsoft and tell them SUN has a great Idea to promote Vista and tell them to subsidise Sunray per seat .
And tell them to sell it for you and they will be happy to do that . or you can also talk to the Cisco guys they may be able to help you .
or just hire me as head of Thin client sales .
SUN Sales Sucks .. too many engineers no good sales guys !!!

I'd just like to see a package for the home user - 1 sunray and a couple of cards bundled with sunray server software and possibly ssgd for 3 users max. and sell it just as simply as the sunspot kits.

It's the applications. Let's face it. Solaris didn't even have Flash until recently. Few would prefer a Solaris (or Linux) desktop over Windows or Mac, and IT isn't always going to make such decisions. It's political suicide.

I must say I *got* it the first time I saw one but it was only since Nov 2005 that I started using them regularly. I especially love having a Sun Ray DTU at home and taking my card out, driving to the office, and plugging it in and everything is where I left it. I ran my Sun Ray @ Home over 850k ADSL for a while and it was perfectly acceptable.
