"All logical system of any complexity are, by definition, incomplete; each of them contains more true statements than it can possibly prove according to its own defining set of rules" Godel's Incompleteness Theorem
The Third Dimension: Enter it today, it is called LG3D.
While the world is waiting for MS Vista (may be next year!), the OpenSolaris 3D desktop system Looking Glass (LG3D) is already available today, and catching significant developer mindshare on java.net. Project Looking Glass is of course an open-source project and also running on Linux,Windows, and soon on Mac OS. In summary, soon I will be able to use the same look and feel 3D desktop environment across all my systems. What a novelty, but sorry that's a different blog.
As I was getting a new laptop (Toshiba Tecra M3), I decided to switch back my developer desktop system to OpenSolaris (I started a while ago on Solaris), and entered the LG3D third dimension. If you haven't seen what you can do with LG3D check this. The latest LG3D 0.8.1 mega bundle makes the LG3D install SO easy. Go get it and try it!
PS: One great thing about running OpenSolaris is that as I don't have to worry anymore about browsing through zillions of Google's pages to get what I need. Googling "opensolaris+x86" improved my productivity by 1000000%

Hey, so you mean that we can have a opensolaris based distribution shipping with lg3d as default desktop before M$ ships Vista? ;)
And do you mean that lg3d integrates with underlying system smoothly, say on the level of preview versions of Vista? ;D
Oh.. by the way, unless anything changed, lg3d only runs with nvidia hardware on solaris.
Waiting for solaris to be a modern desktop for too long..
Cheers,
