Buenas a todos,

HOY comenzará un CURSO DE INTRODUCCIÓN A JAVA. En este se darán 
las bases del lenguaje que desde este año se utiliza en Estructura de Datos I 
y Estructura de Datos II.

Pretendemos que, entre otras cosas, sirva de ayuda a aquellas personas que 
hayan aprobado ED1, y ahora tengan que dar ED2 sin tener nociones del 
lenguaje.

El curso de dará los días 30 y 31 de Marzo, y 1 de Abril (Lunes y 
Martes  y Miércoles).

Comenzará a las 15:30 y se dará en el aula 6106 (bloque 6, planta 1, aula 6).

Aunque no es obligatorio, podéis registraros (para tener una idea de cuanta

Radia Perlman va a venir a dar una conferencia a la Universidad Complutense de Madrid . Para que os hagáis una  idea, Radia es conocida sobre todo por inventar los algoritmos de spanning Tree, que son los que permiten calcular diferentes rutas por Internet cuando desaparecen enlaces de la conexión. Sin esos algoritmos no habría internet.

El tema está por confirmar.

Three interesting talks I can give are

"Data: Making it be there when you want it, and making it go away when you want it gone"
This is about work I've done in key management that allows someone to create data with
an expiration date, and even though there are backup copies of the data, after the expiration
date it is impossible to recover the data. This has no more overhead than a traditional
encryted file system.

"Routing without tears: Bridging without danger"
In today's networks, IP routers require a lot of configuration; each link must have its own unique
block of IP addresses, a router must be configured with the addresses on each link, and a node
that moves to a different link must change its address. Therefore, people like to create very
large IP subnets using bridges. Today bridges use the spanning tree for routing, which does
not give optimal paths, and has other disadvantages. However, it is easy to manage. This
talk discusses a new technology, being standardized in IETF, that will give the best of both worlds.

"Mythology and folklore of network protocol design"
Network protocol design is not a nice, clean science,
where what gets deployed is the best possible design. Instead,
designs are influenced by issues such
as politics, general confusion, and
backward compatibility. Statements get made, and repeated, until
it never occurs to anyone to question whether they're true.
Mistakes get made, and rather than backing up and fixing them,
kludges are introduced to make things sort of work.
This talk discusses how some of the odder things we live with (e.g.,
bridges)
came about, and interesting bad protocol designs that have been
standardized and/or deployed.
