A cool place to know about Sun Abhishek Uppala

Hi all,

Last Saturday, I held a demo session on Introduction to Open Solaris. The session commenced at 6:15 PM with a participation of 17 students. The audience were less in number which was no surprise as most of them had already caught the End Semester Exam fever.

Well, coming to the demo, it had gone exactly the way I had planned for it. I had got a chance to speak about Open Solaris evolution and also its features which make it more exciting for the students to use it. During the proceedings of the session, I had given an insight into the features such as DTrace,ZFS,Zones. I also assured that demo sessions for each of the feature will be held exclusively at the beginning of the next semester,

Audience, though little, were pretty involved in asking interesting questionos which made me tickle every bit of knowledge that I have regarding Open Solaris. At the end of the session which lasted for more than an hour, I had distributed OpenSolaris starters kit to all who were present and I am pretty much sure that they will start working on Open Soalris at the earliest possible.

Then came the most exciting part of the evening. The two teams of students (one team of 2 and the other of 1) had demonstrated the projects they had developed under the IcOSUG.

The 3 students who had developed the two projects.(From Left)Ankur Mawandia,Prateek Meharia and Sushil Verma

The first team of Ankiur Mawandia and Prateek Meharia had presented the basic GUI calculator that they had developed as a start up for their Java Learning. It includes the basic functionalities that can be carried out by any other calculator.

Next, the seconf team which consisted of only Sushil Verma had presented "Icfai Mathematica" which is also his start up project in Java. This mathematica had many features besides just computing the traditional calculations. It has standard values display. It aslo has conversions support. This mathematica can also be used for solving two dimensional linear equations. That was some good work by Sushil Verma.

Kudos to both the teams and I am sure we from IcfaiTech,Hyd will come up with more such projects developed.

Hey all.... I have conducted a quiz "JAVA APTITUDE TEST" in my college and it was a really good experience. Thought he participation was only appreciable, it was encouraging enough for further such activities. The question paper was made by few of the students of my college and it did test the BASICS of Java. The participants found the questions good enough to test their basic understanding of Java. The meritorious performers in this quiz will be receiving CERTIFICATES as token of Excellence from our Institution. We are also planning to give away few prizes. I am really looking forward for many such activities in near future.

Hi everybody... I had just done a demo on Solaris Containers and the concept of Virtualization. I t was really good delivering this demo. I had more than expected number of participants in it. Going by my earlier demos, I was not expecting more than 25. But to my surprise there were 35 participants. Thanks to Marcin Kula for his attractive poster which for sure had got the notice of many in the college. The demo stretched for about 90 minutes with real active participation from few. There were really good questions of which i was unaware of few. But it gave me a chance to learn about them. I would render thanks to my senior colleague Vaibhaw Kumar Pandey who had helped me in this session by sharing his knowledge of virtualization. It was of great help. On the whole, this demo went in nice manner and had re-enthusiased me for further activites. Cheers to all those who attended and won the coffee mugs, caps and pens.
