The open source message from Sun is spreading like wild-fire. Sun's campus ambassadors in various universities around the world are doing a great job in spreading the message. Till now, I have only heard of the excellent work these ambassadors have been doing for Sun. But when I visited SASTRA University on Wednesday this week, I could see enthusiastic campus ambassadors in action. I am convinced they do a lot for open source and they help realize Sun's vision of moving to participation age.

I would like to mention the names of two people here:

  1. Vineet Kumar: Student Tech Lead and final year engineering student.
  2. Abhishek Kumar: Campus ambassador and third year engineering student.

It is also very heartening to note that they run a club called GLOSS. 100+ students attend the club meetings regularly. They talk about open source software in this club including Open Solaris. I would also like to mention the name of Ankur Agarwal and Karthikeyan. While Ankur is a final year engineering student, Karthikeyan is a senior lecturer in the computer science department. Both Ankur and Karthikeyan have worked with Vineet and Abhishek to make the GLOSS club a reality.

Congrats everyone! You guys help spread the message of open source.
