I delivered a talk on "Support Cases and Documentation" last Saturday (11/24) to a group of 25 technical writers. This session was organized as part of "Bangalore Technical Writers Meetup Group". Rajdeep Gupta, a technical writer with Infosys coordinated this session.

The session was well received. I got a chance to talk about these topics as part of the session. Click here for more information.

  • Traditional doc plans
  • Improving user documentation
  • Support cases
  • Gathering info from support logs
  • Support log example
  • Back to planning

I am happy to mention that the session generated a lot of questions, and it helped me learn a lot. Anindita Basu, a technical writer who attended the session has written a nice summary of the event in her blog. She also posted a question on this topic (analyzing support cases to improve customer documentation) in TWI (Technical Writers India) mailing list. The question has generated a lot of response, with several writers contributing to the thread. Rajdeep has posted the meeting minutes here.
