Installing just VirtualBox, sometimes, does not resolves some of the problems. For example, seamless movement between host OS and guest will not work without installing Guest Additions.USB devices may not work without installing GuestAdditions. GuestAdditions are installed in the Guest OS where as VirtualBox is installed on the host.
This blog is about how to install Guest Additions after a virtual machine is created
- Launch VirtuaBox
- Start Virtual Machine by clicking on "Start"
- Wait for guest os to start. If guest OS is Windows, wait for some more time for it to run "Startup Applications"
- Click on "Devices" and then select "Install Guest Additions"
- Step 4 will launch installation Wizard for installing GuestAdditions. Click on "Next" to start installing Guest Additions
- Accept the License Terms and click "Next" to continue
- Choose a location for installation. Default location is fine too. Click on "Next" to continue with installation.
- Once installation is complete, it may ask for guest os to be rebooted. Selected an option and click "Finish"
This will enable smooth switching between host and guest windows.

The guest addition of the Devices could not work and start at all.
What would be the cause of the error?

I've already checked this site, though. I've downloaded its japanese version.
Would it be considerable for you not to open the winzard of guest addition?

I try to click on "Install guest additions" but nothing happens >.<

I had the issue with it not doing anything when I clicked 'Install Guest Additions' also. I'm guessing you already have a CD mounted. Unmount the CD (in the virtual machine). Apparently guest additions feels like it should run like a CD and if one is already mounted it just quits. Worked for me to unmount what I had and click the 'Install Guest Additions' again.

Hey thanks for the reply. The way I fixed was open the Icon on the desktop and clicked 'Open to install' or something like that.
I don't use the CD anymore either, I installed it to VB ^_^

You mean pressing the host key to free your mouse out of the VB?
I had that problem but after I installed all of the updates, I didn't have it anymore (along with fullscreen)
That was my specs but I don't know anything about it. Maybe make yours the same as mine and you'll be alright ^_^
One more thing, I am sure I read somewhere that it is the Guest OS which must support that function. So check with your Guest?

I could mount the Guest Addition on the VB while the Ubuntu was operating as follows:
1. Click on "Devices" and then select "Install Guest Additions"
2. When you can see ISO image file and the message for opening it automatically, you have to cancel it.
3. Click on Application - Accessary - Terminal at Ubuntu. And you try to add the following commands
sudo/media/cdrom0/VBoxLinuxAdditions- x86.run
Pressing on Enter key, and
starting the installation, and after you reconginzed the word of "Successful", you rebooted the VB. After that, you can change the size of display monitor to the full screen size from the System of Ubuntu. Additionally, I've found that the switching of the mouse between host and guest window still didn't work at the version 8.10 of Ubuntu.

I'm not sure what you are talking about mate. Do you have an Icon on your Ubuntu desktop? a new one? Have you downloaded and installed all available updates for Ubuntu? Have you installed Ubuntu to VB? I'm just asking these questions because this is how I managed to get mine working. I am not an expert at this. This is my first time, a Virtualbox and Ubuntu virgin so to speak ^_^

The VB for operating Ubuntu works on my PC. However, I still need to learn more about Ubuntu. If you try to solve yourself for some problems on Ubuntu, you have to spend much time to settle them.

Yeah, I just found out you can't use any Compiz effects in VB or any special 3D effects for that matter...
So I might install Ubuntu straight to my HDD

Hi Guys...
I had the same issue, I just started the VM and went to the CD Drive device and install it manually you only have to be sure if you OS is on 32bit or 64bit...
This works for me!!!
