Is electrical current a scalar quantity?

Recently I was asked to help a cousin in her studies and I came across this fact. I wonder how I used to analyze an electrical circuit without the knowledge of this fact.. Always current is associated with a direction in the electrical circuit analysis using KCL and KVL.
Strange are the facts of Physics....
