OpenSolaris running in VirtualBox

Today I'm write this post in a OpenSolaris that is running in a VirtualBox, based in a Linux host :). Why I do that? Because I heard a lot of guys said that OpenSolaris is very difficult to install and use then these guys prefer using linux. I'm really like linux and I use linux in several cases. But my desktop running OpenSolaris because in my opinion they have a lot of features that's not preset in linux yet.

I have one host running Ubuntu 8.04, I'm installed the Virtual Box with this packages

virtualbox-ose
virtualbox-ose-modules
virtualbox-ose-modules-(kernel version)

Then I start the Virtual Box and create a virtual machine called OpenSolaris using the iso file available here.

Define the virtual machine

Started the virtual machine in the based host

Start the virtual machine

And now we have a traditional OpenSolaris boot, and just fooling the normal steps, like using a linux livecd. Select the OpenSolaris on the grub

The grub boot selector

Define the keyboard layout that will be used

Define the keyboard layout

And that's it, the booting process finished and now the OpenSolaris will start the gnome

The splash screen

Now it's time for fun :)

OpenSolaris running

Now answer... You really belive that's difficult running OpenSolaris???
