So I've started to deploy some T2000s in my new datacenter, and wow, are they awesome!

Ok, I work at Sun, duh. I support our products, duh. But this is a whole different deal. T2000s are helping me in several ways - they take up much less space, they draw MUCH less power, and they're really, really fast for web space problems.

We use Ultraseek for our search engine, and the current implementation is a 3 tier - front end, cache machines and a back end tier. Our current (old) machines were pretty big stuff - both physically and power consumption wise. In a data center (outsourced), those are big deals - I pay directly for both (and my power is metered, so I'm very careful about usage).

Today we swapped out two larger machines for 2 T2000s - ok, they're loaded T2000s, but dang, they'll pay for themselves in a year in power savings. They have enough internal disk that I even removed the disk packs that were on the old machines.

And now on to the point - if you are at all intersted, you can try before you buy. Check out the T2000 Try & Buy. Really easy to get a machine, and try for yourself!

Oh, by the way, did I mention that they look really cool too?

UPDATE (7 Feb): I've had some questions about getting T2000s - try the link above and get one to try for 60 days. Really. I talked with the guys about how the program was implemented, and basically you fill out a form, and someone calls you back to verify the info (and your credit) and then you're cleared for a machine. Shortly thereafter it's on your doorstep. Really

Comments:

Heh. I wish it was easy to get a T2000. I've been working with our Sun sales rep since the day after the servers were announced, and I still don't have one.
