We have just released "CoolThreads Optimized Open Source Software Stack" (Cool Stack) This is a collection of some of the most commonly used open source applications optimized for the Solaris OS and UltraSPARC platform. Using these binaries can enhance system performance. Cool Stack is built with the Sun Studio 11 Compiler resulting in performance increases of anywhere between 25-200% depending on your application. I'm kind of disappointed to still see Apache httpd only being delivered with the prefork mpm. On a tx00 with kssl, there should be pretty obvious performance gains for using the event mpm from 2.2 or at least the worker mpm. (yes, I know they won't do well with php). Also the whole set of cache and proxy improvements in 2.2 should be a significant advantage for those hiding an app server behind apache httpd.

It is an interesting suggestion. I wanted to to MPK worker myself - but found lot of customers still using 1.3 or 2.0 and are not willing to move to 2.2 - I have an idea - in the next release of this kit we will include 2.2 as well - how about that ? BTW: kssl can be used with 2.0 or even 1.3 :)
