Provocative

I just read a fascinating article The Theft of the 2004 Presidential Election. It makes a very strong case, providing numerous pieces of evidence, and the most objective article I have seen on the subject.

And finally an article that blames someone other than us Yahoo's who vote for Ralph Nader because we believe there is room for more than just two parties in the United States government.

On the bright side of the election.

At least the satirists like Jon Stewart and Saturday Night Live will have another 4 years of easily mocking the president. What's that saying, "Humor is the best medicine." Seems applicable here.

BEST Political T-Shirt EVER

Normally I try to ignore any of the advertizing on websites as I surf, but this one caught my eye. It ain't about Bush. It ain't about Kerry. And it ain't about Nader either. Check it out on misswit.net.

Presidential Debate Fraud

I never really understood, or probably even cared, about who really organized the presidential debates. Although I always remember there being a hoo-haw about inviting presidential candidates. And recently I heard there is a 38 page document of the rules for the current set of debates. Well, some folks over at slashdot posted an article with links to this Open Debates site. Its pretty fascinating and enraging to read what sort of close-minded process is going into debate planning of this free, open country. Why are we so complacent to let things like this happen!?

Great George W. T-Shirt

My wife turned me on to this t-shirt available at tshirthell.com. What a great parody of George W.'s "Fool me once..." blunder .

In case you haven't seen it, or would simply love to see it again (its a great morning pick-me-up), check out a Video of Daily Show's Report. The Daily Show is awesome, isn't it? I also found an MPEG version and a Quicktime version around the internet as well.

Fahrenheit 9/11

I finally got around to watching Fahrenheit 9/11. Clearly one should take it with a grain of salt, but, wow, if even half of what the movie exposes is true, then its pretty amazing what George W. and his good ol' boys have gotten away with.

I started to try to summarize the factual evidence in the movie, but found Fahrenheit 9/11 Facts page, which summarizes all the main points.

I guess I didn't really take away anything I didn't really know, except I didn't realize the extent to which George Jr. & Sr. are involved with the Saudi's. Can you believe they have so much invested in each other that they actually started a War on Iraq, even though they had no weapons of mass destruction, had never made a threat against the United States, nor had even killed any U.S. Citizen, and its been shown the there has been no link between Saddam and Al Queda.

Money makes you do crazy things.

Flag Burning

I've had a flag flying for several years, ever since 9/11, up until maybe 6 months ago when it became tattered enough that I figured I shouldn't fly it anymore. Only problem was, I never really knew what to do with it. So, it has sat since then, folded nicely, on a shelf in the garage. I mentioned it to a friend lately, and he suggested that it is okay to burn it. It had crossed my mind as well, but I thought better of it, considering all the Viet Nam stories I had heard about flag burning and all.

Anyways, I did a little searching and found this Flag Retirment Ceremonies page which, among other things, states that burning the flag is, in fact, the recommented way of retiring a flag. The key though is that the act should be done with dignity and respect. Something I'm sure was missing during Viet Nam protests.

By the way, an easy way to impress anyone who is even somewhat patriotic is to get a flag that was flown at the United States Capitol Building. Its quite inexpensive really. I found a Flag Purchase Form on Senator Diane Feinstein's Website. I'm sure you can find it elsewhere as well.

Ode to George Bush

Here's some fun lyrics that always come to mind when I think about George W. Bush. Funny how a couple of decades later the lyrics are still pretty on the mark.

"Let's Have A War" by Fear
[Chorus:]

[Growling]
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many [x2]

[Sung]
Let's have a war
So you can go and die!
Let's have a war!
We could all use the money!
Let's have a war!
We need the space!
Let's have a war!
Clean out this place!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

[Chorus]

Let's have a war!
Jack up the Dow Jones!
Let's have a war!
It can start in New Jersey!
Let's have a war!
Blame it on the middle-class!
Let's have a war!
We're like rats in a cage!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

[Chorus]

Let's have a war!
Sell the rights to the networks!
Let's have a war!
Let our wallets get fat like last time!
Let's have a war!
Give guns to the queers!
Let's have a war!
The enemy's within!

It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

[Chorus x2]

George W. Has Won.

I just heard on the news this morning that war monger George W. has managed to duped the majority of citizens, by one poll at least, that the War on Terror is the greatest issue concerning the U.S.A. He appears to have put enough Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt in the minds of most American's to win his re-election. What a disgusting way to win an election. The politics of fear masking the real issues that effect all citizens of the United States, issues like health care, environment, economy, gun control.

That's not to say I don't believe that we should overlook terrorist threats, but it just strikes me as odd that although he lauds the capture of Saddam Hussain, which all experts agree had nothing to do with 9/11, you barely hear him talk at all about Al Queda "President" Osama Bin Laden, who nearly everyone largely agrees was responsible for 9/11! Isn't that strange?

Heck, good ol' George W. has actually got me a little scared too, even though I know what he's doing! I guess that's what scares me, it just feels as if he's responsible for creating more enemies than allies.

Terrorism is not a daily thought

Whenever I hear a news report about how Americans are frightened about terrorism so much as to effect their daily lives, I have to wonder whether the report is blowing things out of proportion or not. The threat of a terrorist act effecting me directly is not something that comes to my mind on a daily basis. Nor do I plan my life around it. So I wonder if I am more of the norm or the exception.

Don't write Nader off.

People seem infuriated by the fact that Ralph Nader wants to run for the office of the President. And what's even more surprising is that politicians are the most vocal about it. How many news reports have we seen that positions Nader as the spoiler (again). Ralph Nader is simply doing what anyone in America should be free to do, and yet the leaders in our democracy who we've elected to represent us appear to be totally against the democratic process. How can you not at least admit that he has a right to run?

That's not to say I totally agree with everything Nader stands for, but the biggest of all for me, is he stands for us trying to take back our government. It's pretty clear that we lost control years ago. I'm not sure how. Is it big business as Nader suggests? Perhaps. Likely its a combination of things. Special interest groups that don't represent the population anymore. Personal interests, such as the Bush/Bin Laden-Oil dealings. At any rate, Ralph's willingness to talk straight on the issues, is refreshing, and something I think is really needed in Washington.
