Top 5 Lists
Hasn't that movie "High Fidelity" with John Cusak ruined Top 5 lists for everyone. Gah! Whenever I find my mind wandering, usually thinking of Top 5 song lists or movie lists, I end up thinking of this movie and feel like such a door nob.
But speaking of Top 5 songs, A couple that are definitely up there are
- The Who - A Quick One
Something like 11 minutes, and 4 parts, very funny and fast, I fell in love with that one the first time I watched "The Kids are Alright." And it has to be the version on "The Kids are Alright" soundtrack. Twice as fast and huge sound for essentially a power trio, Roger didn't really do much but sing.
- Devo - Gut Feeling
How could a Devo song not be on any Top 5 list. Devo's influence can be heard in so many bands today still. The original pioneers who managed to merge New Wave and Rock and Roll. Anyways I just love how this song starts out small, adding layer upon layer, building faster and faster, louder and louder. Like great sex. And it doesn't end until the next song. What a way to delay that big O. Anyone have a cigarette?
