Subscription service ... for hardware
Had to take a moment to highlight an announcement Sun made today that might have slipped past your eyes because of other news. Not only is there new Opetron-based blade server hardware available, but it now also comes with the option of a subscription service. Yes, that already existed for the software, but this is for the hardware. It offers:
installation of Sun Blade 8000 system plus refresh and on-site support services to upgrade 10 Sun Blade x8400 server modules at least three timesso that your hardware stays up-to-date and at peak possible performance without constantly having to go through procurement pain for new stuff, yet without having to manage leases. We're getting closer and closer to an open source approach for hardware. Brilliant!

These are so cool. The first original ideas I have seen for presentation slides in I-don't-know-how-long, and they are all in ODF.
