Seems there is a hard disk failure at my hosting provider and all my web sites apart from this one have been down for about 10 hours. More news as I get it.
Update, 11am BST: Seems to be back up.

Interesting walk down memory lane here. The same has happened several times as I recall, with no true standardisation ever happening. Seems the tech industry is doomed to repeat history through inattention.
