Link roundup to December 22

  • Fauxliage
I somehow missed this collaboration between Leigh Nash and the Delerium guys when it came out - just heard it on Lush on Soma FM and loved it. And I see Amazon MP3 UK has it too.
  • Microsoft spits out ODF plans for Office 2007 SP2
Good to see them supporting v1.1 - let's hope they quickly catch up to ODF 1.2 which pretty much everyone else is using.
  • Open source is not a panacea
This fits in with a maturity model approach to open source as I have blogged. But it also speaks to the strength of the open source brand, when people try to just stick it on the outside rather than cooking it in to the inside. Use like that is not part of a maturity model in my view.
  • Increasing Ecosystem Co-operation
Great post by Dave Neary points out that moving to collaborative maturity involves behaving as an open source community, not as competing corporations with a remote United Nations to visit.
  • JavaFX - the road ahead
"Q: Any plans for open source? A: There are some dependencies on licensed code that cannot be open sourced. We are working towards decoupling the dependencies so that the non-proprietary portions can be open sourced." Great pity a new-build system was dependent on proprietary code; good news that it's being un-broken.
