If anyone has received one of these, is a developer and wants to develop software that doesn't make you Microsoft's bond-slave, I'd recommend installing OpenSolaris - these Acers run it well and NetBeans targets anything with Java including Vista.

Mr Murphy says: "By the end of the year the OpenSolaris community will be widely recognised as larger and more active than the Linux community..."

How do acutally define "larger" and "more active"?
I imagine one way it could happen - call it the "Reverse Stallman Gambit" : refer to all OpenSolaris-using distros (except Solaris) as "GNU/OpenSolaris" and claim the GNU community as you own - therefore, it comes down to number of OpenSolaris developers (since it's the kernel) vs number of Linux kernel developers.
That said, I am hard pressed to believe that there will be more machines running the OpenSolaris kernel at the end of 2007 than Linux. Heck, even MSFT is selling SUSE these days ;)
