Simon, I don't think the word processor review was worthy of such a positive link, and after re-reading parts of it I think that some of the 'balance' may come from the fact that it is self-contradictory. More detail about what I think is wrong with it at my site.

Thanks for the link, Simon. In response to Peter's post, it's a different, "lightweight" review to be sure, one that does not attempt to plumb the depths of features among them. I even state up front that no "winner" will be announced. The crux of Part 1 of the review was that an open format will always beat a proprietary... in 2007. Before Office 2007, this was not necessarily true with .doc as the world's de facto standard. I spend a significant amount of time on the two formats (ODF and OXML) because it is an important point today. Next to the ISO-certified ODF, Microsoft's new OXML doesn't look so great. Part 3 (due in April) of the review will show how much ODF is already influencing online word processor interoperability.
