I'm surprised that Steve Ballmer remembered the shareholders, because according to a fair number of Microsofties at a "rogue" Microsofty site, minimsft, he's ignored their interest in seeing any sort of accountability for the constant slide in share value over the last five or so years. Of course, Steve Ballmer has forgotten that other pesky little fact - satisfied customers make satisfied shareholders, and customers as fed up with Microsoft's shoddy software - eg, IE - as they are, don't make for satisfied customers. Microsoft's painted itself into a corner again. Oh dear! Paint fumes in an enclosed space can be toxic.
