Dalibor breaks the news that OpenJDK6 (aka Java SE) is now heading squarely for Debian main. That decision to use the GPL is paying off. Absolutely awesome, fantastic work everyone (yes, including the IcedTea folks too).

Since open source also brings (supposedly) in hordes of outside programmers, are Sun's internal programmers next in line to be riffed?

It's never good to see folk lose their jobs but I see how this fits into the strategy. I'm sure you guys have the research to quantify the marketing benefits of open source. I hope this pleases the investors enough to buck the current stock trend.

Anyone mad enough to wait a week to get into a retail store deserves to not only be thrown own but locked up as well ;)
