- OpenSolaris based AMI catalog on Amazon EC2
This has to be the future of deploying software. Especially interesting to me is the MediaWiki instance, although I'd really like them to make Wordpress available as well. - Mythbusters Gagged: Credit Card Companies Kill Episode Exposing RFID Security Flaws

It is surely time for change. - Minnesota police raid homes of suspected RNC convention protesters
"Two people were outside the home in handcuffs while police awaited a search warrant" -- This time there's not even the pretense of a "free speech zone" involved. The EC2 thing is awesome - I'd really like to see these things in pkg.opensolaris.org too..*cough*.

If they were VirtualBox images I would totally agree (and I really want that to happen). But I see no reason AMIs should be anywhere but the EC2 catalogue, do you?

Except for those people who may want to deploy a MediaWiki/Wordpress instance on their corporate intranet. I think the EC2 stuff is definitely where things seem to be going, I don't think it's the be all and end all in terms of choice.

For those of you who want to deploy all of the above locally on Solaris (Sparc and Intel), checkout http://bitnami.org/stacks
