Still waiting for them to start removing old features and fixing usability. Using OOo after using Office 2007 makes me feel like I might as well be writing on a clay tablet.

(What happened to HTML syntax? Anyway, link is here: http://tieguy.org/blog/2006/09/24/open-office-still-pulling-the-wrong-page-from-the-firefox-playbook/ )

Agree 110% with Luis... my wife's swearing goes through the roof whenever she tries to use OpenOffice.

Apple's Pages is a great example of how to cut your functionality back to sensible levels, provide a beautiful new UI, and still be MS Office (*and* ODF)-compatible-enough for 90% of users.

I'm also really not impressed by the 'plugin' approach to functionality that more and more apps (not just OpenOffice) are falling back on now. It's a great excuse not to focus properly on your target users in the first place, and the more plugins one adds from different sources, the bittier and more incoherent the user experience becomes.

It would be nice if they fixed the bugs that one reports :/ also agree that old crud needs to be removed in order to help on the usability front. I would hope this would also help to make OOo a little more faster.

Regards,
Edward.
