Zen Audio

In case you have a spare hour and want to hear for yourself what I say in my "Zen of Free" keynote (aimed usually at general audiences), I've uploaded an audio recording kindly made by my friend Adrian. The slides that go with it are also available. The audience for this version was the Annual Meeting of the Hampshire branch of the British Computer Society, and the illustrations are weighted for that audience, but this is essentially the same talk I gave at OSBC in London and at GUADEC in Spain. One of the most cogent, well illustrated expressions of Sun's open source (and business) strategys that I have heard. I would encourage you to take every opportunity to evangelize this so that people you care about (analysts, potential employees and customers) understand the method to the madness. Whether it all plays out to Sun's advantage is something only time will tell but as you point out encouraging dialogue can only help refine the strategy to your advantage (provided Sun is open minded and does not revert back to its religious blinders). At the very least it was thought provoking and its got me thinking about potential ideas that I would look to implement if I was an entrepreneur. Well wisher and Ex-Sun Employee
