Java EE 5, Web 2.0 with Sun Web Server Update 1 Technology Preview
Tuesday Mar 13, 2007
Catching up with the Java EE standards has been one of the challenges (or CTQs) in the Web Server space. Thankfully, Web Server 7.0 was designed such that it's easier to drop in a new Java Servlet container, from GlassFish. That's what we just did, i.e. updated the J2EE 1.4 servlet container with Java EE 5 Servlet container and released as Sun Java System Web Server 7.0 Update 1 Technology Preview.
Sun Web Developer Pack (SWDP) is a new integrated toolkit from Sun Microsystems that consists of a collection of Web 2.0 technologies that enable next generation Web application development. You can use SWDP with Sun Java System Web Server 7.0 Update 1 Technology Preview.
Ensuring compatibility is one of the core principles of Java EE platform so we don't expect you make any changes to your existing applications. of course, you can try new Java EE 5 applications with same ease using Web Server 7.0's newly designed administration interfaces. Aside, the same container has shipped in GlassFish and Application Server 9.0 , so we think we put out a good quality container in the Technology Preview.
We are very excited and we encourage you to download here , try out and let us know any issues you would like us to address. Please join us on the Web Server Forum.
