About me!

After being encouraged (or is it pressurized) by Carla King (Wow! what an excellent job she does to maintain the Sun Java Studio Creator Developer Resources site ) and my fearless manager Octavian Tanase, finally I decided to publish my ideas and thoughts.

Being part of Sun Java Studio Creator development team, mostly I'll cover topics related to Sun Java Studio Creator, but not limited to it.

About me .. I'm with Sun from 2000 and working in the Sun Java Studio Creator product right from its inception. I've been contributing to several architectural areas such as Window Manager, Web Services, Data Sources, Style builder, CSS Editor and component design time. Before joining Sun, I worked as Satellite Remote Sensing scientist for about a decade and developed sophisticated applications such as monitoring tropical storms for disaster warning using satellite data.

When I'm not developing for a living, I like to do some extra stuff - figure out how to take decent looking picture with my digital camera, learn how to paint in oil(Bob Ross) or acrylic (Jerry Yarnell) or listen to some good music (I hate heavy metal though!).

I am working on Dspace LDAP authentication for MS Active Directory. I gave the following LDAP-AD parameters in Dspace config file for LDAP login. ldap.enable = true ldap.provider_url = ldap://staff.main.ntu.edu.sg:389 ldap.id_field = sAMAccountName ldap.object_context = OU=Users,DC=staff,DC=main,DC=ntu,DC=edu,DC=sg ldap.search_context = OU=Users,DC=staff,DC=main,DC=ntu,DC=edu,DC=sg ldap.email_field = mail ldap.surname_field = sn ldap.givenname_field = givenName ldap.phone_field = telephoneNumber These arguments were tested with LDAP Browser except the “ldap.id_field = sAMAccountName” field and connection was okay. My user DN from the LDAP browser is CN=Jayan Kurian,OU=Users,OU=SCI,DC=staff,DC=main,DC=ntu,DC=edu,DC=sg. In my AD attributes list sAMAccountName corresponds to my campus userid (i.e jayan) and cn corresponds to my full name (i.e Jayan Kurian). In the Dspace LDAP login interface I gave my userid (i.e jayan) and password. The connection is refused displaying the following error. anonymous:session_id=059CF24E14CC27170FE4B0AF62FFEFB3:ip_addr=155.69.104.75:ldap_authentication:type=failed_auth javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 49 - 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C090334, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 525, vece ] Is there any other field other than sAMAccountName that I need to try with ldap.id_field (e.g legacyExchangeDN or distinguishedName) since my DN is CN=Jayan Kurian,OU=Users,OU=SCI,DC=staff,DC=main,DC=ntu,DC=edu,DC=sg. Please help Thanks, Jayan
