Willie on Google Maps

Last fall, I was headed out for a bike ride and saw this crazy young chick flying by with a contraption on the top of the car she was driving. I figured it was for Google Maps Street View, but I gave up looking for my picturesque chiseled body after a while.

Last week, I was doing various things and ended up on Google Maps, so I decided to try again. Well...looky there! I made Google Maps Street View. I'm famous. If you use Street View to search around the area, you'll see several different poses of me. Print 'em out. Hang 'em on your wall. Surround them with hearts and kiss them before you go to bed at night.

Comments:

DO you mind if I dont do that?

It's scary that I can rotate around and see you from different angles. Assuming that *is* you as even at full zoom I can't quite make your face out and with the skid lid I can't check the haircut.

AFAIK we still don't have street view for the UK :-(

Steve, I give you full permission to *not* kiss my picture at night. :-)

Your a landmark.

Next time I go to 16 Milton place in Hollis NH, I expect to see you there, helmet and all.

:-) Just some additional background - whenever I'm looking for directions, I never type in my exact starting address, but typically enter a fake street number somewhere near where I live or where I know I will be passing on my journey. If I'm headed to a private residence, I also don't type in that exact address, either.

I know it's easy to find my address using any number of websites, so it's not out of hiding my address. I do this because I don't want those people managing the websites to gather information about me that can be used for direct marketing purposes: "Aha! Someone at this address was looking for directions to Boston Piano. Let's send them all sorts of sales information from Guitar Center. Let's also get them on the cold call list of piano technicians in the area. Let's learn more about this person's house -- vinyl siding? Get them in touch with some power washing companies. Nice lawns in the neighborhood? Maybe Lawn Doctor needs to pay them a visit."

That is, my mind says that these free information sites are a direct channel to direct marketers. Yes, it's all unfounded, but I like conspiracy theories.

It's the most plausible conspiracy theory I heard today :)
