If, like me, you don't have a calendar handy, mark your desk, bathroom mirror, or forehead, as necessary:

On September 10th, next Wednesday, we're officially announcing the Sun xVM Virtualization Portfolio. At 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time there'll be a live presentation and chat with Rich Green and Steve Wilson, which you should take part in. If you miss the event (you lose your calendar, wash your forehead, whatever) the webcast will be available later on for replay.

So take a look at the launch site, and watch the presentation on Wednesday if you can.

Comments:

How much will this all cost??

The announcement, with the presentation and chat, is free.

If you're referring to the products themselves, that's one of the things that I presume we'll talk about at or after the announcement. Sun xVM VirtualBox is already free at virtualbox.org, though.

Hello,
The link to view the web event for the xVM launch is www.sun.com/launch, not sun.com/whatsnew. Sun.com/launch currently redirects to /whatsnew until 9/10, which is when the /launch url will be updated w/ the xVM launch webcast, multimedia, whitepapers, etc.

There's also a SunSpace page here for further xVM launch info: https://cetwo.sfbay.sun.com/x/8wMjBQ

Marianne,

Thanks for catching that, and thanks for the link.

Good thing you can zoom the videos in Firefox 3 (using CTRL+wheel or CTRL++)...

All well and good, but where is the migration information between virtual servers? Where is the integration of SPARC management with INTEL/AMD? Where is the cross platform management capabilities?

Bill,

A lot more information will be coming out as we release documentation and expand on what Steve and Rich introduced. Since other people probably share your questions, I'll speak to those features in detail in full blog posts.
