Sun xVM Ops Center 1.0.1
Most of the changes in 1.0.1 are in response to feedback from customers, so thanks for your help. If you'd like to learn more about getting Sun xVM Ops Center 1.0.1, see the product page.
I'd like to throw this out there, for everyone who's reading: If there's a particular aspect of Sun xVM that you'd like me to talk about, leave a comment or send me an email. Let me know what you'd like to hear.
Thanks a lot for the update, Owen.
I have two questions though:
1. Where do I get xVM Ops Center (download, distribution CD, DVD, any source)? We are SUN Microsystems reseller and solutions integration company in Western Canada (Edmonton, Alberta).
I'm a Systems Engineer and our team would like to try this product in our POC and test Lab so we could show our mutual existing and potential customers all the benefits of the product. We talked to SUN representatives here in Edmonton, but they said they have no access to that product yet.
2. Is there some kind of API available for custom development with Sun xVM Ops Center? We are interested in developing NFS boot module with provisioning and management of specific NAS appliances.
Thanks,
Dmitry

Dmitry,
It's cool to hear that resellers are interested in Sun xVM Ops Center. Sun is in the process of implementing a system integrator and reseller learning path for Sun xVM products. Until that's up and running, your best bet is to talk to the sales people using this link: http://www.sun.com/software/products/xvmopscenter/get.jsp and identify yourself as a Sun reseller. They should get you the software and the training. If that doesn't work, let me know.
The planned APIs for Ops Center are more oriented towards integration and remote execution and extraction from an entity outside of Ops Center. That's not to say that they won't be expanded in the future, but right now, filing an RFE is the best way to get a specific enhancement.

Owen,
Any news on when Sun Ops Center might be available for anyone to download? Or what the roadmap for getting to that point looks like?

Simon,
Sun xVM Ops Center can be downloaded, but you still have to go through the sales people and get the training first.
Are you referring to OpenxVM? If so, your best bet is to watch http://openxvm.org . I'll definitely keep you posted about what they announce, but they're in charge of all things open-source.
