Sun xVM Ops Center 2.0 Documentation is Here!
Many of you have been asking to get a sneak peek at what's coming in Sun xVM Ops Center 2.0. To that end, we've opened up the information site early. Since they aren't released yet, do keep in mind that some features might change; some sections have a disclaimer explaining that they're still being tested. The docs should give you a decent idea what the releases will look like, though. Also, if there's something in the docs that you want to know more about, let us know. We're always still working on them, so if something needs to be explained better we'd love to know.
We've taken your feedback and made changes to the look and how the information is presented. To learn more, we've created a brief wiki overview.
Two questions that I think you'll be asking are:
Q1: Why aren't there more graphics?
A: We're working on screencasts and other rich media to show you the user interface and how it works.
Q2: Where can we get a PDF?
A: You can export any page to PDF by signing in and clicking Export to PDF from the tools menu. We're also creating printable versions of each section of the wiki. With the printable version, you can create a PDF or printout of the section and it will have all of the latest updates on the individual pages in that section.
The wiki format takes time to get used to, but keep an open mind, it provides a lot more flexibility, we can post changes much more quickly, and it gives you the opportunity to provide feedback and contribute to the final documentation. We'd like to know what you think about it. If you have a few minutes to spare, we have a short six-question survey to gather opinions and suggestions. To take the survey, or leave a comment on a page, just log into wikis.sun.com with your Sun Online Account.
I got the XVM for OpenSolaris up and running last night with help from e^ipi of the irc.freenode.net #opensolaris crew. The speed is blinding on my i7.
I look forward to providing more feedback, as it really begins to sink in exactly what I did by "following the cookbook" so to speak.
I'd like to experiment with getting Windows to install under Xen, and also Frugalware Linux pre 1.0.
Thank you again SUN, for another great set of documentation and support!
:)
