Solaris Performance, Observability and Debugging. Tools and methods for drilling down and dazzling customers.
Jim Mauro, was as usual quite entertaining and educational. The presentation could have run for at least two hours.
I don't have access to the internet again but I am reasonably sure that the slides are available online.
However in summary:
pstack, dtrace, use your tools we have an incredible ability to drill down into internal Solaris kernel and process level stats.
Remember wait io in Solaris 10...always 0, now hardcoded.
I could quite easily massacre the presentation as I am not writing a book about it...
Having said that there are two new Solaris performance books that I can't provide links to because I am not online.
I strongly recommend that anyone who can read, go and look into Dtrace it rocks.

Ian White: Sales gets 7 words, as it is easier to remember. Went over well in a geek oriented conference.
Message: Customer Engineering translates Sun IP to Customer Solutions.
Enis Konuck(sp missed it)
Professional services, automatic provisioning and deployment over the network will be cool
(definitely paraphrased)
Incredibly high quality, smooth, seemless, painless as possible customer service is key.
Specifically mentioned Managed Operations.
Eula Adams:
Storage(Tek) is part of Sun
We have moved to the neighborhood. Hopefully not the neighbor with the obnoxious dog who never mows his lawn.
come say hello
Carv Moore:
You Owe Us(Not really what he said), everything needs software.
Solaris Adoption rocks, and is still running strong.
Se Chang Oh:
Forgot his wedding anniversary because he was busy thinking about CEC.
His wife also forgot...until she got an SMS from her credit card company congratulating her on the anniversary.
Infrastructure as a service!
Technology to customer needs, not needs from technology.
Which doesn't mean don't sell people need to know what we can do.
Dominate, Educate, Communicate

I have a little sony laptop running a horrendously old version of Solaris 10 Express.
However it works, and it can run punchin(Sun native IPSEC VPN). Punchin rocks, unfortunately
I understand that it doesn't work from here even if I could get online.
I have a literal point-to-point, go Gigabit interface automatic cable detection.
I am sharing my WiFi connection from my PowerBook to my Sony. I have a custom ipsec configuration
that allows my Mac to connect via ssh to the Sony.
In the end what it means is that I can display either with X11 forwarding or VNC a browser that lets me see
SWAN.
(However see my can't really connect to the network post as to how that is working out at the moment)

I am hoping for some Brazilians as I understand they can be raucous when you say Brazil; I have an example where I plan to say Brazil.

Sitting in the "Web2.0" CEC starting general session.
Only I can't get on the provided wireless.
I can't see it, I can see some other random networks including
"Free Public WiFi" to which I can connect but not reach anything.
So I have been using SMS and email, but not AIM to interact with the presenters.
It is cool, but it would be more so if I could get/stay online.
I am trying to sneak in posts as I get online for a moment.

When I woke up this morning I couldn't talk.
I don't talk alot.
(I know that people will disagree)
Or given the chance I will talk for quite some time...just normally not over the volume of a bar.
I spent an hour in the bathroom steaming myself.
So if you are here and you come to see our presentation. Sorry, I will be a bit rough.
