Thursday February 21, 2008 I am disappointed with the pictures I got from the eclipse. Low ISO for noise begets a longer exposure which proves that the universe isn't standing still. Oh well maybe next time I'll be home and take a bit more time to get it right.

Hey Shawn, how fast was your lens? Next time, you can try bumping up to ISO400 or even 800 and then take some dark frames to subtract the noise out. I'm not sure about the Nikons, but they might have an option to take a dark frame with each exposed one, and then you can use an app like MaximDL to do the noise subtraction.

f/2.8. unfortunately my CCD is getting noisy in its old age ~8 years old now. The d1x doesn't support automatic dark frames but I'll keep that in mind the next time I give it a shot.
