OpenSolaris 2008.11 launch date is set for 10 December
released OpenSolaris 2008.11. The webinar will highlight the unique
OpenSolaris features like ZFS and Dynamic Tracing (DTrace) as well as
the latest innovations from the OpenSolaris community, including the
following demos:
- Time Slider which enables you to browse and recover files from ZFS snapshot backups with an easy-to-use graphical interface
- Working with ZFS raids and how to replace a broken disk
- Improvements to the Image Packaging System (IPS) and the Package Manager GUI
- Various desktop improvements which make it easier to use OpenSolaris for daily work
- Where to get multimedia for OpenSolaris
This webinar will be conducted by Roman Strobl who works at Sun
Microsystems as a technology evangelist on the OpenSolaris project. He
has approximately 10 years of software development experience in Java
and various dynamic languages. Before joining Sun, Roman worked as a
PHP developer and system administrator for a Czech startup company.
Roman is a frequent speaker at software conferences including Sun Tech
Days, various Java events and user group meetings. Roman enjoys working
with open source communities and his current passion is evangelizing
OpenSolaris. He writes frequent posts on the OpenSolaris user-focused
blog which can be found at blogs.sun.com/observatory.
