Google testing OpenSolaris!
While this is not really new news, I was so excited on reading the article that I thought I'd post a little blurb here. You can read the original story here.

So why is there so much interest in OpenSolaris? The reasons are many, but perhaps the biggest factor is the fact that Solaris is now an Open Source software. And there are a lot of really powerful new features on OpenSolaris: Zones, ZFS, DTrace, Service Management Facility, to name but a few. And the development process for OpenSolaris is now open, with members from outside of Sun participating. So, it's hardly surprising that it's looking increasingly like the Bazaar development model! Check out this thread for a good example of the open development process.

More than 5 million users (and counting) have registered to use Solaris 10 since Jan 2005. That's an impressive number by any standards for a UNIX Operating System.

Hi, please visit the Free and Open Source (FOSS) conference in Bangalore from 24 - 26 Nov at National Science Symposium Center, IISc. Visit the Sun booth and ask for an Open Solaris CD.
